centennial historical sketch of the town of fayette,

seneca co.m ny 1800-1900

prepared by diedrich willers c1900, reprint 1982

this is from an appendix in the back titled "civil war veterans as listed in child's 1894-95 directory of seneca co. (wording repeated verbatim)" as you can see from what i typed from the child's directory it is not quite verbatim in the centennial history!

varick - dutcher, william h., po fayette, b1837, w jane, co. d, 148th nyv (these poor wives never got their names the same way twice!)

history of seneca co., ny

1786-1876, reprint 1976, with subject and name index compiled in 1976

- william h. dutcher is listed in the section naming varick soldiers in the civil war - info is 148th infantry, august 30, 1861, private (i assume this is date of enlistment) he is also in the list of patrons, varick township as a farmer, 1837 (date of settlement) with po address in fayette.

farm register of all farms in seneca co., ny

c1938

carl l. dutcher, geneva po waterloo

g.c. dutcher, romulus, po romulus

james dutcher, seneca falls, po seneca falls

this book includes a map and coordinates to find farms. the first town listed is where the farm actually is as opposed to po address.

[Note: The Carl Dutcher listed was my father. The address used to be RD#3 Waterloo, NY. It was on the Waterloo-Geneva Road (Rtes 5 and 20)not far from Packwood Rd. in the town of Waterloo. It was most recently #704. Geneva is not in Seneca County. The James Dutcher in Seneca Falls was his Uncle. Barry Dutcher]

i also happen to have on interlibrary loan a book some cemetaries of the between the lakes country, seneca, schuler, and tompkins counties, ny. the only dutcher entry i could find was in the mt. green cemetary, town of varick, village of romulus and was the name dutcher on a flower urn with no other markings.
