Megan Scott

Hi Folks,

I'm putting together two messages from Ken Hale and Megan Scott and hope this makes sense to everyone:

Megan Strong Evans Scott replied to my inquiry re: Clinton Dutcher, saying that a Clinton Dutcher was the brother of her ancestor Stephen Manchester Dutcher. Stephen m. Mary Hunt of Smyrna Chenango, NY (dau.of Lebbeus Hunt and Sarah?). Their daughter, Mary Cornelia Dutcher m. her ggrandfather, John Caldwell Strong, 1863 in Jerseyville, Jersey Co., IL

**************

Look what I found, Megan! This was while tagging Clinton and Stephen Manchester Dutcher to notify you of any info found.

Gideon Duthcer (b 20 Jan 1773) and Sarah Manchester (b10 Nov 1777) had nine kids listed including Cornelia Alling Dutcher and Clinton Dutcher. There was no Stephen Manchester Dutcher listed, but perhaps he fell through the cracks.

I have attached a family group sheet on Gideon and hope it is the lead you are looking for. It might also be the lead I need. Please let me know if it works out.

Good hunting,KEN

Subject: Re: SQUIRE DUTCHER

Squire DUTCHER was the son of Gideon and Sarah Manchester DUTCHER. He is a gggguncle of mine. He was the brother of Stephen Manchester DUTCHER who married Mary HUNT. This couple are my direct ancestors. Stephen and sisters Polly and Jane moved to Chenango Co, NY, somewhere north of Sherburne, around 1840. I am still reconciling some dates.

Mary HUNT came with her father Lebbeus and family and Lebbeus' brother Joseph and his family to Smyrna, Chenango Co, NY; they originated from the Lebanon area of CT but both moved around in Eastern CT. Lebbeus and his wife Sally____ both are buried in Smyrna. I still have not located a marriage record. (I saw the grave stones this fall - fortunately I had an old photograph taken by my grandfather indicating the location, or I never would have found them in their condition. Poor ggggrandfather Lebbeus! Flat on his face!) Stephen DUTCHER and his wife also moved to Illinois; somewhere near Squire, because they maintained contact with him. Squire shows up on the Illinois land records in Barry, Pike Co, IL. Stephen's sister Polly m. Daniel HUNT b. 8 Sept 1804 (the first of Joseph's children born in Smyrna). They moved to Kanesville, Kane Co, IL. (This is the line RS Youngs is researching and why I am so anxious to find her. I keep picking up clues for contacting her, but they never seem to pan out).

I do have a few more dates, and sources. but my paperwork is in a mess right now.

Kainesville, Kane County Illinois

Seeking information regarding this family which settled in Illinois in 1800's. Square Dutcher Hunt's family can be traced back to Deacon Jonathan Hunt of Thrampston, MA. Square Dutcher Hunt's mother was Polly Dutcher b. 1804 Polly's husband Daniel Hunt b.1805 and one of his brothers Lebbeus/Lebbens Hunt were residing at Smyrna, NY around the early part of the 19th, Century. Both Joseph and Lebbens/Lebbeus were children of Joseph and Mary Fuller Hunt of Lebanon CT. Do you have any information relating your Dutcher research to this family line?
