Saw posting that you are working Dutcher family of nY. My line thru Elizabeth m.1800 Christian Dedrick at Kastbaan, Ulster Co., NY./ Elizabeth dau of Elias Dutcher & Mary Rose. Elias said to be son of Gabrial & Eliz. Knickerbocker Dutcher.

Be glad to exchange info,

John Clarke

Walter Griffin lists Elias DUTCHER (born 10/11/1755) as child of Gabriel DUTCHER and Elizabeth KNICKERBOCKER, grandson of Roelof DE DUYTSER. The Griffin number is 331. ("The Dutcher Family" 1909 and 1910)

He lists two wives: (1) Mary ROSE (?ROSA) m. 4/25/1776 in Amenia; and (2) Elizabeth FELAE (VALLEAU?) m. 10/14/1787.

He cites among his references: Greene County, NY History, 219-220; 35 N.Y. Gen., 283, 285, 287.

Unless someone out there has good evidence to contradict him, this seems pretty reasonable?

I have (undocumented) that there were three children: Catherine (b. 2/4/1777), John (b. 8/18/1781), and Elizabeth (b. 5/18/1783). All born in Amenia, NY.

John Clarke - this means you are a descendant of Elias' third child, Elizabeth? Do you have any info about Elias' first two children or their lines?

Thanks for the response. Elias went to Cario, Grene Co., NY and died there. Have his family fairly complete but most of children left the area. THere is another Elias who was a loyalist, but mine served in Rev. War and I believe he is Gabriel's son but No absolute proof as I find no probate for Gabriel? Also a possiblity of a second Dutcher line. Elias's wife Mary Rose MAY BE daughter of David Rose/Roosa and Caroline "Cattyntje" Dutcher daughter of David De Duytscher.

I will put more together on my Elias and send it soon. Thanks for sharing

John
