times of 1861-5, Dr. Dutcher was a strong supporter of the Union, and
his services on the rostrum were in much demand. He published a number
of works and was a writer of fine literary taste as well as an eloquent
speaker. The children of Dr. Jacob C. and Martha M. Warriner Dutcher
were: Jacob C., born Dec. 18, 1859, died Feb. 6, 1887, and Anna M., born
May 17, 1862, died July 19, 1863." The likeness of Jacob, Martha and
Jacob, Jr. appear in The Warriner Family of New England Origin by Rev.
Edwin Warrine, 1899, pp. 117-118.

In the 1860 census for New York City (ward 9, 1st district p. 150 In the
margins of the census entry was written, ‘53 Barrow'), Jacob C. Dutcher

Jacob and Martha are buried in Agawam Cemetery with son, Jacob C.

and Anna Chaffee are buried with children in section D-1. There is also
a Major Gad Warriner (died 1842 age 84); his wife, Eunice Worthington
(died 1820 age 57); his second wife, Ruth Phelps (died 1846 age 72); and
two children buried in section D-1. They were married prior 1796. Gad
was a major in the Revolutionary War. Elsewhere in the cemetery, there
is a Captain Lewis Warriner (Revolutionary War) and family.

In the Warriner genealogy, "Reuel Warriner is honored by his descendants
as a true Christian gentleman," (p. 115) and "The old homestead is in
excellent repair, standing on land originally granted to William
Warriner as proprietary settler of Springfield." (p. 116). Reuel was
the son of Gad and Eunice; Anna Chaffee was the daughter of William
Chaffee and Mary Whipple.

I could not find any record of Anna Chaffee being born or baptized in
Enfield, CT. [I wrote the churched and an historian from Enfield].
There was a Enfield, MA that was flooded and destroyed in the 1930's to
create an immense reservoir.

In the 1900 census for Springfield, Massachusetts, Martha M. Dutcher
3/1832 68 born in MA; Edward Warriner 9/1869 30 born in PA (no
relationship recorded). She was living at 143 Cedar in Springfield. In
the 1850 census index for Massachusetts there were nearly one dozen
Warriner's listed.

Harry - thank you very much. My family has talked about Hoaglands for so long and finally they show up. My aunt will be so very glad to be vindicated!

Simeon Ayres Dutcher is my GG Uncle. I'm in a direct line down from Reverend Jacob Conklin.

I have some other information about him and I'll try to find time this weekend to transcribe and post it.

Does anyone have any more detail about the Ayres/Ayers connection? I have some info and considerable interest. If there are other interested, let me know and we can pursue it off the Dutcher list.
