I've a friend who traces from a Daniel Dutcher, of Michigan, who m. Lavancia (last name unknown) and later Mary Lambert. Would be interested in any possible links. I know my friend has mentioned Roeloffs in the family tree, interlinks with Knickerbockers, and that the line appears to extend thru a cluster of families (Dutcher, Lambert, Quicks, Hartmans) who trace to Cherry Valley, NY.
Data on this Daniel is:
Born 1805-1810 (census entries inconsistent) in Mass. or NY (ditto).
1830, bought land in Oakland Co. MI, in Commerce Township, near Wixom's Corners.
Reportedly first married a Lavancia--very little is known of her--her daughter's written recollections indicate she died in 1843-44 or so. Pioneer recollections indicate household was stricken by smallpox, with fatalities, and they were tended by a man named "Freeborn Henry Banks" (possibly Wm. Henry Banks). Report is consistent with sudden drop in household size between 1840 and 1845 censuses (wife and 3 of 7 kids vanish).
1846, marries a Mary Lambert, b. circa 1826, in New York. Daughter of Peter Lambert and Charlotte Lambert, of Commerce Township.
There are some, limited indications that Dan Dutcher may have previously married a Charlotte Lambert, possibly a sister of Mary. Indications are very limited, however.
1850 census shows shows Daniel and Mary Dutcher with children. They have by this point relocated to Saginaw Co., MI:
Daniel Dutcher jr. b. circa 1835
Harriet 1839 (possibly the "Ella" who later m. Robert Lambert)
Mortimer 1843-44
George 1846
Charles 1849
A daughter, not shown, is Mary, by the first marriage, who by this point had married a Carl Heisterman. A son, Richard, was born in 1857 after the census.

Now that the Supreme Court has stricken the Communications Decency Act, I am able to post on my homepage (http:/www.indirect.com/www/dhardy) the subsequent career of Mortimer Dutcher, who suddenly became James Monroe while being pursued by an outraged father. Something about an underage girl who turned up expecting.... and with a social disease. (After he died and his widow applied for a pension, she found out all the details.).
Some other Michigan Dutchers on which I have files (primarily CW pension files) are shown on my page, including
Stephen L. Dutcher of Ingraham co., MI, b. 1837 or so, m. 1861 Martha (Clinkins?), children Martha M. (b. 1862) and Daniel S. (b. 1865). His parents were Daniel D. Dutcher (b. 1806) and Maria D. (b. 1809).
Robt I. Dutcher of Caseville, MI (b. ca. 1836) m. Ella Lambert Dutcher (d. ca. 1889). Children Merle E. (b. 1876), Robert B. (b. 1878) and Roy P. (b. 1881).
-------------------
Daniel Dutcher, b. ca. 1800-1810, either NY or Mass. (His census reports vary widely on age and location. Ages given are consistent with 1770-1800, 1805, and 1810.). d. 1896.
m. (reportedly) Lavancia, sometime prior to 1835. She reportedly died around 1843-44. Family records are quite unclear, but census returns show wife of 1840 is not wife of 1850.. Their first surviving daughter states that her mother died when she was 15, which would indicate this timeframe.
*possibly* married a Charlotte Lambert either before or thereafter (records unclear if is same Daniel Dutcher)
m. Mary Lambert (b. 1824-1826, NY) of Commerce Township, 1846. (confirmed in public records). Mary's parents were Peter and Maria or Margaret Lambert.
Dutcher held Michigan lands as early as 1830. He homesteaded near Wixom's Corner, Commerce Township, Oakland Co. MI, and by 1850 had moved to Saginaw, MI. Early records indicate his family was stricken with smallpox, with fatal results to some, which likely accounts for Lavancia's vanishing prior to 1846, and possibly in move to Saginaw by 1850. Comparison of 1840 and 1850 censuses show that 1840 wife and 4 of 7 children have vanished.
Children and approximate birthdates:
Mary (m. Carl Heisterman). Affidavit filed in 1890's would indicate birthdate of 1823, but is unclear. 1840 census indicates a daughter aged 10-15, which would indicate birth 1825-30, if it's her. Is daughter by first wife. No known children.
Daniel, 1835
Harriet 1839 "Ella", m. Robt Lambert. Children: Merle E. (b.1876)
Rob't B. (b.1878) is still living in 1915 in Caseville, Huron Co.
Roy P. (b. 1881). d. around 1889.
Mortimer 1843 or 44 (later took alias of James Monroe, m. Jennie McNeil of Detroit: descendants, under name of Monroe, moved to Calif.).
George 1846
Charles 1849
Frank
Richard 1857
(Plus 3-4, names unknown, who prob. perished in smallpox epidemic)

I also have civil war files for a number of Mich. Dutchers who proved blind leads (for me):
Daniel D., m. Maria D. (b.1809), child Stephen L. m. (1861) Martha E. (Clinkins?), children Martha M. (b. 1862) and Daniel (b. 1864).
Seth, b. 1835, d. 1864, only family data is had brother named Davis.
Gilbert d. 1864. Son of Benjamin (b. 1823) and Louise (d. 1888). Had sister, Ashbell, b. 1846.
George, b. 1840, NY, d. 1863.
