My early forebears remain in the closet. The ones I know for
certain moved a lot: NY>MI>CA>Var. states.
Samuel Townsend, of Somerset, Niagara County, NY, moved his young
family to Unadilla Twp, Livingston Co., NY in 1835. He was an
early pioneer in the area. His daughter, Nancy Matilda Townsend
married Joseph Atwood Dutcher in Ingham Co., MI in 1858. Their
son, Sanford Norman Dutcher, lived in various parts of MI until
1900+. He moved to CA and married his second wife, Clara Laack,
in 1907. My mother, Dorothy Townsend Dutcher, was born in L.A.,
CA in 1908. She married Wallace Fraser in 1936. Her surviving
descendents live in Alaska, Kansas, and Minnesota.
