My GGG Grandfather was an Ephriam Dutcher born in NY around 21 Oct 1761. About 1809/1810 he went to Ontario Canada with his family which included my GG Grandfather Calvin Lewis Dutcher born about 1808. Calvin Married Catherine Hess in Burford, Oxford, Brand, Ontario about 1829. The family moved south to Michigan for a short time and are in Clinton County, Iowa in the 1840's. I have a lot of information from Calvin on down but have nothing linking Ephriam Dutcher to any of the many Dutcher families in Dutchess or Columbia Counties, NY where we believe he lived until leaving for Canada. If in your research you have ever run across Ephriam and made a connection to earlier Dutchers, I would be most appreciative of any data. I have considerable research on Calvin and his descendants in Iowa and later Nebraska where they moved in 1887. My mother was a Dutcher so I am interested in getting the family tied back to pre-Revolutionary times. Thank you for any information.
Two of Ephriam's granddaughters married Elliotts in Canada. Elizabeth Dutcher, daughter of Reuben married an Orlin Elliott and a Mary Dutcher, daughter of Henry K. Dutcher married a Philander Elliott in Burford, Brandt, Ontario, CAN.

I am wondering if you ever found out how your Ephraim-Eleanor link up with the Dutchess County Dutchers? >Peter Elias
Dear Peter,
No luck. All I have to connect Ephraim to Dutchess county is the death register of his son Calvin Lewis Dutcher. Calvin Lewis married a Catherine Hess and they moved to Lyons, Clinton Co. IA in 1841. Calvin died in 1893 and the following information was provided to the county records in Clinton County.
# in Register:
3711
Name: Calvin L. Dutcher
Sex: Male
Color: White
Years-Months-Days: 85-4-18
Occupation: Farmer
Date of Death: 10 March 1893
Marital Status: Married
Nationality: American
Where born: Dutchess Co. NY
How long resident in state: 52 years
Siblings: Mary, Margaret, Elizabeth, Joseph M., Reuben, Henry K., Hiram, Julia Ann, and Levi Nelson Dutcher all born NY
Joseph M born in 1786. Unsure of dates on older girls.
Tradition says that Ephraim lost his farm on a bet. Perhaps to Derrick Dutcher.
Ephraim left a will and mentions all children. His wife died in 1837 (1768-1837) She would have been 42 at the birth of Levi Nelson Dutcher.
Were Methodists in Canada. Many buried at Fairfield Cemetery, Brant, Ontario, CAN
Our ancestor may have come to Iowa via Michigan. Arrived in IA in 1841 so was pioneer resident of the state.
I have two other cousins, neither on line, an Elizabeth Lambert and a Priscilla Cummings who have also done research on this line also being descendants of Calvin Lewis Dutcher.
Thanks for your interest.
